Back to Natural Light – Family Photos in Troy
Last Sunday, I had my largest extended family photo session ever – 17 people spanning three generations! Since my studio lights, light modifiers, and light stands were all destroyed when our basement flooded, this *had* to be an outdoor session with available natural light. Natural light can be lovely, but sometimes it can be tricky to get a good quality and direction of light and a decent background all at the same time.
Among the people photographed, three of the families also had flood damage from the storm, and to make matters more complicated, the original location for the shoot suddenly became unavailable, so we opted to have the session at the home of one of the family members who hadn’t been impacted by the storm. Fortunately it was a lovely outdoor space that turned out well for the shoot. Everyone did a really great job in front of the camera, despite the difficult week beforehand. You never know what you are going to get when young children are involved, but they all did beautifully!
Speaking of which, look at this little bundle of cuteness (above)! This photo is my favorite one from the session.
